A few of my finds from the trash:
We're having a warm, sunny Saturday. I went to the Transfer Station at 10 AM this morning to glean, and stayed only a couple hours. By noon, I could tell that it was not going to be the most "comfortable" place to work as we get into some hot summer weather. Even with all the wide open walls (entering and exit areas for vehicles), it was still getting pretty warm, dusty and smelly in the bay. The spotters that work there, both men and women, have a difficult job, regardless of the weather, managing all that trash and the vehicles that come to off-load. I was only there for two hours today and by noon I was eager to come home. They are there eight hours a day, five days a week. I sometimes watch the guys up on the "recycling line"...where all the last-minute sorting is done until the trash is finally pushed up on to another belt, delivering it to the trucks and on to the landfill. A few of my finds from the trash: (a cool little table-top tripod...not the old sofa!) (a silk screening frame) (a briefcase filled with portable coffee equipment)
