Big news...if you are an artist living here in the Portland, OR area, the application process has just opened up for the Glean Program once again. They are looking for five artists who are willing to glean for materials for five months at the Metro Transfer Station (the city dump). They'll pay each artist a $2,000 stipend, plus you'll have a group show (earning 80% of your sales) in August. Each artist is required to create at least ten pieces for this residency. You can find more information (as well as download the application-due at the end of this month) here. You can also read all the information (with photos) that was blogged by the artists from the last two seasons here. You can also search here on my blog for photos and information about my own personal experience in 2012. I thoroughly enjoyed this project two summers ago...the city dump is a "treasure trove" for artists! If you live in an area of the country (or world) that might be interested in starting such a program for artists, you can contact Amy Wilson, local program director, for more specific information at nowaste@comcast.net
