A few assemblage treasures that I got this past weekend from a huge indoor garage sale (a few hundred vendors) at the Portland Expo Center:

Another find, destined for one of my assemblage pieces...plastic birds.  Who can ever have enough?  The lady that sold them to me thought that these might have originally been used in small vases or planters, probably bringing new life to tired, old African violets!

Another great find that will find its way into one of my boxes!  I found this rusted, metal piece on a table with a  vintage collection of toasters - some electric, some not.  I didn't get a definitive answer from the sellers, but it seems that this is also a (hand-held) toaster of sorts...it actually might work well for camping.   It's got a great rusted patina, both front and back, and a little over eight inches in diameter.  It came from a yard sale this morning.

These two life-sized hands possibly came from a doctor's office.  They have "celebrex" inscribed into them at the bottom.  I've had them for a few weeks and am not yet really sure how I want to use them in a box.  They do have potential !

I'm always looking for the right kinds of "stuff" that I might want to use in some of my assemblages.  Local thrift shops always have some possibilities, but I tend to find better (cheaper)  deals at summer yard sales and a local year-round flea market.  Here in the Portland area, we also have a wonderful recycling center/warehouse...the prices are cheap cheap cheap and you never know what you'll find on any given day (SCRAP).  I've been thinking that I might begin a little "preview of objects" here on my blog, highlighting some of those things that are likely to make it "big time" into some of my boxes.

How about these beauties...an old surgical saw and some teeth!
